Colloquia is an independent gallery committed to cultivating meaningful encounters with contemporary and 20th/21st-century art. Our vision is shaped by the belief that art is not only to be seen, but experienced as dialogue: layered, participatory, and alive to its moment. Each exhibition invites visitors into conversation with artists and with one another, creating space for reflection, curiosity, and shared discovery.
The gallery presents a dynamic program of exhibitions, pairing international voices with significant contemporary and modern works. By situating boundary-crossing art within an intimate setting, Colloquia offers both artists and collectors a place of integrity, rigor, and openness—where serious art finds an audience prepared to linger, engage, and return.
Located in Woodstock, Virginia, Colloquia draws on the history and quiet intensity of the Shenandoah Valley, while extending far beyond it. Our setting amplifies the experience: removed from distraction, immersed in landscape, yet connected to a global conversation. Colloquia is not simply a gallery—it is an invitation to see differently, and to join a continuing colloquy.

Andrew Ritcheson is an American-British artist, collector, and psychologist whose work spans painting, photography, and assemblage. He is the co-founder and managing director of Colloquia Art, a gallery dedicated to fostering layered, thoughtful encounters with contemporary and 20th/21st-century art.
With more than three decades of experience at the intersection of creative practice, material culture, and psychological inquiry, Andrew brings a distinctive interdisciplinary lens to his curatorial and artistic work. He holds a DPhil in Psychology from the University of Oxford and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). His scholarship has explored how people make sense of experience and how visual imagination shapes emotional life—questions that continue to inform his studio practice and the exhibitions he curates.
Andrew’s philosophy is grounded in presence, materiality, and close looking. He emphasizes art’s relational power: to linger, to resonate, and to deepen understanding. At Colloquia, he curates exhibitions and dialogues that embody this ethos, offering both artists and audiences a space defined by intimacy, integrity, and reflection.
